Heading South

Isn't this a cute little Winnebago?  It was set up at our first stop, just had to take a picture!
We are at a Corp of Engineers Park in Oklahoma. It's a very nice park by a lake. Not very busy, but we do have neighbors a few sites down that have a small Chihuahua dog.  Our dogs got to say "Hi" to Sadie. They all behaved very well!

There is one geocache in this park, we'll have to see if we can find it before we go.

Vel and I sat outside last night to watch the sunset, quite beautiful I would say!  -Later-M

On the road again!

After our spring, summer and fall stay in Nebraska and Iowa, we are back on the road!  We were delayed a couple of days because of the High wind warnings.  It didn't sound like fun to rock and roll, along with drive down the highway, so we waited it out.  We aren't in any hurry, that's what's so nice about this Full-timing lifestyle, we just take our time!  I think we are finally adjusted, because if we had to hurry, we would be in trouble!
There's a warm beach somewhere, we will find it!
We stayed in Kansas last night and are hoping to make it to Oklahoma, today.  We'll see how far we get.-M

Geocaching with the kids

Yesterday, I went geocaching with my brother, niece and nephew.  We found 4 out of 6 geocaches.  It was beautiful day to be out and about!  Zoe ended up on Daddy's shoulders for half of the adventure, she was getting tired!  All in all, I think we all had fun!
Then we all came back to the rig and watched the Nebraska-Oklahoma State football game.  Zach and Zoe got their Toby, Tucker and Luxi fix. (or is it the other way around?)

Luxi got a new sweater!  She is a cold dog, we have to put a sweater on her at night and in the cool mornings, otherwise she is shivering if we don't.  She's a southern dog for sure!

And here are some recent pictures of Toby and Tucker, they are all doing great!
We forgot a load of clothes in the dryer, when we left my Folk's house last week. So, Friday we met them halfway for Lunch. And ontop of the folded clothes, my mom left a baggy of cheerios for the "furry kids".  She doesn't want them to go without their cheerios in the mornings! ( They all sit around her in the morning waiting for them, when we stay at their house!)  I think she's going to miss the dogs!-That's all for now-M

Behind in blogging as usual

As usual I'm behind in blogging!
Last weekend we went to Lewis and Clark State Park, by Yankton SD, with our friends.  We had a great  time!! It was perfect fall weather, cool in the mornings, warm during the day and crisp cool nights!
We got the bikes out, Vel's knee isn't quite there for a long trip on the bikes, so we went a little ways.  We got a little Geocaching in.  Sitting watching the sunrise, and sitting around the fire in the evening.

After we left there, Vel and I headed to my Folk's house for a few days.  After an enjoyable time there, we are back in Lincoln.  We have a couple of Dr's appointments to finish up and then we will be heading south beginning of next week!  It's sound like the temps are going to drop (highs in the 40's) by the middle of next week.  So.........it's time to head for warmer temps!!(Hopefully, we will find some)

This is a picture of the informal firepit at our friend's house, I help dig.  It's not complete yet, they are going to be putting alot more gravel around the outside of it.  Looks like a cozy place to contemplate life, doesn't it?-M

Stretching Tucker

On one of the beautiful days that we have been having, we saw 2 of these Powered Paragliders go by.  This one was so low, I thought he was going to end up landing on the road.   But, I think he was just enjoying the ride!
Last Sunday on 10-10-10, Vel and I went out to find  a few Geocaches.  We were able to find two of them!
Geocaching.com was having it's 10 year anniversary, so they were trying to break a record on how many Geocaches people found on 10-10-10.  The record was broken from a previous 56,000 worldwide in one day  to 78,000!

The other day Tucker saw a stuffed toy on top of the desk and he was determined to get it!  He pulled over the basket full of his other toys (they weren't good enough) and stretched as much as he could and after about  6 attempts got it!   And of course he proceeded to rip the stuffing out, so I grab his favorite ball and threw that a few times to distract him from that toy!  He could play ball for hours if you let himl!
Toby's been enjoying being outside on these beautiful days and Luxi likes to be outside for about 5 minutes, then she's had enough and wants to go inside the rig.  She is such a little princess!
That's it for today!-M

No, it can't be

While we were at my Folk's house last Tuesday, I went out to the Pick-up that morning, to get something out of it.  And as I'm walking up to it, I could see the back window didn't look right. All I was thinking was "no it can't be" .  Well, yes it can be and it was!  I was not a happy camper!!! Something hit the back of it, either a rock from the road or a pellet of some kind, I will never know!  It was intact, but in a million pieces!!!

I called the Sheriff's department and the Town Police came and looked at it, and made a report. Then I called  Safelite (a national company) and they would be out the next morning to replace it.
They were there at 10am to replace the window and I thought they would have a fancy way to take it out as whole as possible. (maybe a big adhesive tape) Nope, he put a sheet across the back seat and pushed it all in!!  I couldn't watch- what a mess!!  It looked good when he was done.  After he left I took the shop vac and  cleaned up what he missed.  So, that is an expensive way to get a clean window!

So, that was my excitement for that day! Way tooooo much for me!  But the good thing is, nobody got hurt and it was just a small bump in the road.
Vel is doing well with her knee and still going to Physical Therapy. It still aches and keeps her up at night sometimes, but it will get there. Her knee she had replaced last spring, is doing great!
That's it for today-M

Look! no crutches!!!

Saturday, Vel walked (with 2 crutches) at least a good block to the Volleyball game and then climbed up the bleachers to the 14th row and watched 4 sets of volleyball!!  and then back to the car again! Her knee did very well, but she was pooped by the time we got home!
Saturday evening, I was invited to a party with my former co-workers.  It was very nice to see everyone!  It amazes me, to hear about everyone's kids, and how they have grown!  They  are graduating or having their own kids now,  kind of makes you realize how time flys by.......am I really getting that old????!!!!!!   It's all in the mind.....right??
Back to Vel, we moved back into our rig on Friday and I think that, along with getting her staples out last Thursday has help with the progression of her recovery.  She doesn't use the crutches or the cane inside the rig, because everything is so close, that she can just grab something if she needs to steady herself.  We are at my folks house, now for a couple of days and  she's walking with a cane sometimes and sometimes not.  So, it's looking good!!!   In a few weeks we should be heading south!!
In the "furry kid" department, we bought a new rug to put in the living room and Luxi would not walk on it at all!  Now our living room is not very big, and the rug takes up most of the space.  So, here is this little dog walking around the outside edges, just to avoid the rug.  Vel and I got a good chuckle out of it-of course a treat trick did the job to get her on it.  So, now she is slowly getting use to it. Dogs are soooooo funny!!!
Well, that's it for now.....Later-M

short update

Vel's knee is progressing well. We've made a few outings.  Target shopping after Physical Therapy, a Kohls trip to buy a new rug for the rig and a new pair of tennies.  And a BBQ at my brother and sister-in-laws house, to see my nephew, Dusty, who was back for the weekend from Sacramento.  It was nice to see him and everyone else!
Today we are going to go to a Nebraska Volleyball game.  Hopefully I'll be able to drop Vel off close to the coliseum, and  then go park in our usual parking garage. She'll have to climb up to Row 14 on the bleacher's and luckily she sits on the end of the row, so she can let her leg hang out in the isle. We'll see how many people she trips!   So......we'll see how that goes!
The weather has been absolutely beautiful here! We couldn't ask for anything better!!   So, hopefully the cold will hold off for  a few more weeks!  Later-M
