Monday already!

We just hung around the rig yesterday, except for a run to the grocery store for some Super Bowl snacks. I did a little maintenance work on the rig outside. It was mostly cloudy, but the temps were in the 60's.
The picture is of our spot that we are at now. We like it, there are lots of Live Oak trees and they really keep the wind down. We have a nice size yard also.
Not sure what we are doing today, it's suppose to rain this afternoon, so we'll see. Have a Great Day! -M

Nice Days!

We have had a couple of beautiful days! Sun was shining and temps in the 60's. So, we took the dogs and went over to Port Aransas (North Padre Island) both days. We parked along the jetty to eat our Subway sand. and this large ship was coming in. The dolphins love to swim in the wake at the bow of the ship. If you look real close you might be able to see one. It's hard to catch a picture of them. We did see a few just swimming in the jetty on the other side, also.

On the beach behind us there was a group of Black Skimmers (orange/black beak)and seagulls. The Skimmers open their beaks and fly real low along the waves on the beach and I guess skim up what ever there is to eat. They are fun to watch, kind of like a crop duster, swooping down and then up.

This picture is of Roberts Park in Port Aransas. We found a geocache in the tower there, so I had to take a few pictures. It's a very nice park, alot of people sit there and watch the ferries go across, or ships go by. It's a popular spot for fishing, walking or just hanging out. As I was up in the tower, Vel was down below and all of the sudden I heard her laugh along with others. A guy was fishing along the pier and caught a fish. As he was grabbing onto it, a Pelican came swooping by and grab onto the fish. The guy grab the line and pulled the fish out of it's mouth. Gutsy pelican!

Vel went a little crazy (or reverted back to childhood) and decided to go 4-wheeling on the beach. Since you can drive on the beach here the "road" isn't always in the best of shape after alot of rain. There was a mushy spot, about a half a block long, and instead of turning around, something clicked and off we went. I was holding my breath and she was laughing her head off. We made it with out getting stuck, and had to wash the car when we go done. It was kind of fun!
Well, I guess that's it for now-Later-M

The Sun is Shining!

The fog has lifted and the SUN is shining! We definitely need to get out and about today and enjoy it. Vel's dental appointment was canceled today, so that's even better. Something about the dentist being sick, Hopefully he's not sick and just wants to enjoy the SUN!
We took the dogs to the park yesterday, to walk on pavement and not mud. Looks like its something we should do again, today.
The picture today is Tucker (the thief) looking out the window and looking for squirrels. He get so excited when he sees them! If you have ever seen the movie "UP" , its like that, the world stops when he sees a squirrel.

Illinois Pics

Not much to post. We are going to take the dogs to the park today, so they can get a good walk in on pavement instead of the "guck" that we have here at the park.
Todays pictures are from 2008 when Vel had an assignment in Centralia Il. They have a Balloon Festival every Fall and we were fortunate to time that just right. They are beautiful and when it turns dusk, they do what they call a Balloon Glow. They all take turns firing up their balloons. There were quite a few there, I would guess 40 or so. They also do a race across the country side. Vel and I took off on country roads to see if we could follow them. Sure enough all you had to do was follow the other people that were doing the same thing.
The hummingbirds were in full force then, also. We have a picture window in the back of the rig, that makes it perfect for their feeder. They are so fun to watch! Later-M

Day 4

Today's pictures are the Llano River in Llano TX (neat little town) and the Skyline of Corpus Christi, from last year.
We took the back way to Vel's eye appointment yesterday in Corpus. By backway I mean we avoided the main drag, South Padre Island Drive (SPID) which always has alot of traffic and we don't like the way the exits and entrances are set up. We took the Ocean Drive through downtown and by the Marina. Alot less traffic and you get to see alot more residential area. Very nice homes along that drive.
Vel got her much needed check-up and glasses. She is able to brag, the Dr. said her eyes are stronger! Man, I can't wait until I get old and get stronger eyes, He He.
Last year we went to Llano. Llano is in the Hill Country, It has some nice little shops, good restaurants, and nice Christmas decorations along the river at Christmas time.
It's raining today, but temps are close to 60. We put ribs in the Crockpot for supper. Life is good! M
